University of the Third Age to open in Goudhurst
The doors of the latest University of the Third Age will be open in Goudhurst Parish Hall (aka Village Hall) by the pond on Wednesday, 22nd
This is an opportunity to become a member and register interest in one or more of the Groups now formed and to bring ideas for other topics. So far the Interest Groups are: Literature; Wine Appreciation; Computers & Computing; Theatre & Cinema; Walking; Photography; Garden Visits; French & France; Bridge; Art Appreciation; History; Psychology.
Although termed a University, U3A uses the word in its original sense, meaning “a corporation of persons devoted to a particular activity, not necessarily intellectual”. Members will be retired or semi-retired and meet in informal Groups to pool their knowledge and skills for mutual benefit and enjoyment – no targets or exam pressure.
Headquartered in Goudhurst, members from all surrounding parishes are very welcome.
The membership year starts on 1 November with an annual membership of £25.00 – less than 50 pence per week. This will cover the cost of monthly speakers, membership of The Third Age Trust and Newsletters throughout the year.
There are monthly meetings in Goudhurst Parish Hall at 2.30 p.m. on the third
